In a move that reminds people of how the Russian Communists under Lenin denied their opposition a seat in their Parliament, the Democratic Party which controls the Senate has denied one of their own party members Roland Burris his seat in the Senate.
The reason has been that controversial Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich appointed him. Mr. Blagojevich has been the center of controversy with calls for his resignation or impeachment secondary to attempting to sell Obama’s seat.
I do not agree with the Democrats or the Republicans, but I am a believer in that people are innocent until found guilty. I am also a believer in that people should not be forced to pay the price for the wrongdoings of others.
It is not a surprise that what has transpired today was one of the most humilliating moments in US History. The Democrats and Republicans love to preach human rights, freedom, and democracy but refuse to seat an appointee because of a technicality.
There have been questions from Legal News Line and Hillbuzz as to whether Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid [D-Nevada] was or is a racist. Before writing about this hot issue, Legal News Line [article by Chris Rizo] and Hillbuzz reported that Mr. Reid called Mr. Blagojevich and asked him to appoint either Lisa Madigan or Tammy Duckworth [both White and Anglo-Saxon].
According to the article by Mr. Rizo and Hillbuzz, Mr. Reid told Mr. Blagojevich that he thinks “Jesse Jackson Jr, Emil Jones, or Danny Davis [African Americans] cannot win the 2010 Election in their own right”. If these allegations are true and will merit further investigation from the underwriter, it could be said that the Democratic Leader has more of a personal vendetta either because of race or because Mr. Blagojevich is trying to think for himself.
I prefer to believe that Mr. Reid is punishing the people of Illinois because of a Governor who refuses to resign in the face of a scandal. It remains to be seen how this plays out.
it’s crazy what Blagojevich has gotten away with already… he’s an international embarrassment

I personally do not agree with Blago especially when he did not allow the Greens or Libertarians to debate in the last Gubernatorial Elections. I am also aware that he was arrested for attempting to sell Obama’s seat to the highest bidder.
I am also aware that while there are attempts to impeach Blago or force him to resign, there is not enough evidence to warrant this. Blago until found guilty or resigns is still the Governor and can appoint a Senator.
It is also a double morality on the part of Reid to talk about freedom and democracy but not practice it in the Senate. Reid did not have to say that Madigan [who is a White Anglo Saxon] is electable while Jesse Jackson Jr. [An African American] is not.
There has to be some changes in the system.
