THIS FINANCIAL MESS

Posted in Partido Libertario/LP by alvarezgalloso on septiembre 30, 2008

WHILE I HAVE TRIED TO KEEP THE SPORTS BLOG SEPARATED FROM THE POLITICAL BLOG, I HAVE MADE ONE EXCEPTION TODAY WHEN IT COMES TO THE FINANCIAL MESS THAT EXISTS. IT CANNOT BE IGNORED.

AN OPEN LETTER TO JAMES REYNOLDS OF BBC NEWS

The Financial Crisis in America started in America. The Republicans and Democrats wasted money on an unwinnable war which is Iraq and Afghanistan. The Republicans and Democrats [in collaboration with Wall Street] mixed the state with business. Another factor was the people who made purchases in houses and autos without reading the fine print in the contracts or finding a lawyer. The last factor was unscrupulous bankers in the USA who made immoral business measures. The solution lies in voting out the Republicans and Democrats, replacing them with Libertarians, and being responsible for one’s own action without blaming the People’s Republic of China. Mr. James Reynolds, please think before blaming the People’s Republic of China.

OPEN LETTER TO THE STATUS QUO IN WASHINGTON

I am disgusted over the economic mess created by the Status Quo in Washington and the corporations that are in trouble because of bad management created by them. I am disgusted at the Status Quo and certain corporations because I will eventually have to pay for their irresponsible behaviour.  Who is going to bail me out of my debts if I am greedy and irresponsible? No one would bail me out. Who is going to pay the debt secondary to the irresponsibility of the Status Quo and certain businessman? The taxpayer pays.  Will the taxpayer receive stocks in these NATIONALIZED companies? In reality it is doubtful that we the taxpayers will be the true owners.  We the taxpayers will be paying in every way possible.  Will the Congress take some responsibility over their lack of action? NO! What about being tried for treason? This is exactly the word for the inertia from our elected officials, what a shame! THIS IS THE REASON I AM VOTING LIBERTARIAN!!!!

WE SHOULD VOTE OUT THE STATUS QUO AND REPLACE THEM WITH LIBERTARIANS!!! THE STATUS QUO AND THEIR IRRESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PARTNERS SHOULD BE GIVEN LIFE SENTENCES AND HARD LABOUR [AFTER BEING TRIED BY A COURT OF LAW] FOR THIS CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!!!]

MC CAIN AND OBAMA ARE THE WORST CANDIDATES!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by alvarezgalloso on septiembre 27, 2008
The first Presidential Debates between the Status Quo Presidential Candidates Mc Cain and Obama occurred on the 26th of September 2008. The debate was a disaster, was proof that the debate and the Presidential Elections are rigged, and that Mc Cain and Osama are the continuation of the worst Presidential Candidates in the history of the United States of America.

Before continuing on my reasons as to why Mc Cain and Obama are the worst Presidential Candidates in the history of the United States of America, we must discuss the issue of the debate. In spite of receiving calls from supporters and members of the Libertarian and Green Party, the Commission for Presidential Debates [which is a non governmental organization run by the Republicans and Democrats for the sole purpose of excluding Alternative Parties from the debate] in collaboration with the Mc Cain and Obama Campaign Headquarters ignored the requests of the above mentioned parties to be included in the debate. The Commission for Presidential Debates, the Obama Camp, and Mc Cain Camp mistreated the Libertarians and Greens verbally on the telephone and in person. The offer of Barr and Mc Kinney to substitute for Mc Cain in the debate was met with cynicism and disdain from the Commission for Presidential Debates, Mc Cain, and Osama. The arrogance exhibited by the Commission for Presidential Debates, the Republicans [Mc Cain], and the Democrats [Osama] is part of the proof as to why the system is broken, Mc Cain and Obama are the worst Presidential Candidates, and the fact that whoever of the two steals the election will not be recognized as my President.

The second reason why Mc Cain and Obama are the worst Presidential Candidates in the history of the United States of America is the fact that they are part of the worst political parties in the United States of America called the Republican and Democratic Party. Mc Cain and Obama and their respective parties have turned the United States of America into a hotbed of hatred based on ethnicity, race, concepts [their favorite word is ideology], and fear. Who could not forget how Obama stroke on these hatreds by saying that the people of Middle America “cling to their guns and Bible and anti foreign sentiments when things go wrong”. You have hatred right there. Obama has increased racial and ethnic tensions to the point that in the VA Hospital in Miami Florida, an African American Nurse has been practicing discrimination against White Anglo-Saxon and Latin Nurses by giving the White Nurses demerits and negative points and helping African American Nurses. Mc Cain on the other hand has encouraged such overt racism of Whites against Blacks [i.e. Anglo Saxons and African Americans]. Both candidates have used the race and ethnic card by saying indirectly which group is “more American than thou”. The response has been that some states are considering seceding from the Union and other people have been leaving the United States of America for other countries.

Mc Cain and Obama have repeatedly stated that they will fight corruption yet corruption is written all over the faces of these two candidates as well as other members of the status quo in Washington. Mc Cain has lobbyists working in his campaign including those form the oil companies. Will Mc Cain be able to stand up to these lobbyists when he is elected? The answer is No. Obama worked with a Chicago Businessman who was charged with crimes and shady deals. The fact that Obama was involved with this individual reveals enough about his character. The fact that both Mc Cain and Obama are tainted with corruption also makes them the worse Presidential Candidates in the United States of America. The fact that both of them have used corrupt processes such as polls reinforces this fact.

It is hoped that the people of the United States of America will take the time to be informed via the computer or alternative news sources instead of the mindless banter that comes from the US Mainstream Media. The alternative is that there will be terrible presidential candidates coming from two terrible political parties called the Republicans and Democrats. I am at peace with myself since I support Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party because of his integrity, lack of corruption, and the desire for transparency.

Green presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney will ‘join the debate’ via VoterWatch.com blog Friday evening

• Web site: http://www.bloggingthedebates.com

• “A Fraud on the American Voter”: Greens protest the exclusion of McKinney and other qualified candidates from the debate, control of the debates by the Democratic and Republican parties and corporate sponsors; Greens insist on voters’ right to know about all presidential candidates.

WASHINGTON, DC — Green presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney will be blogging live at the web site of the 2008 Presidential Debates Project (http://www.bloggingthedebates.com), a project of VoterWatch.com, during the debate between Barack Obama and John McCain in Oxford, Mississippi on Friday, September 26.

On Wednesday, Cynthia McKinney said she is ready to step in for John McCain at the debate, after Mr. McCain called for postponement of the event (http://www.gp.org/press/pr-national.php?ID=108).

The Green Party defends the right of voters to be informed about all the candidates on the ballot and to vote for which candidates best reflect their interests.  The party has strongly protested the control over the presidential debates by the Democratic and Republican parties and their corporate sponsors, which have an interest in limiting the number of participants to Democratic and Republican candidates — which the League of Women Voters once called “a fraud on the American voter.”

Greens have called for Cynthia McKinney’s inclusion in the 2008 presidential debates, along with other candidates with ballot lines in a majority of states: independent Ralph Nader, Libertarian nominee Bob Barr, and Constitution Party nominee Chuck Baldwin.

“Cynthia McKinney, Rosa Clemente, and the Green Party represent millions of voices whose opinions will be excluded from the debates unless they are invited,” said Cliff Thornton, co-chair of the Green Party of the United States.  “Ms. McKinney is the only woman presidential candidate in 2008.  Ms. McKinney and Ms. Clemente are the first US presidential ticket in which both nominees are of African ancestry, and Ms. Clemente is Black Puerto Rican.  Ms. McKinney has involved herself personally in the struggle of people in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region to fight permanent eviction and return to their homes — Friday’s debate will take place in Mississippi, a Gulf Coast state.” “The Green Party and its candidates represent the promise of an anti-war, progressive party that takes no money from corporations — an imperative for America in the 21st century.  No other candidate in the 2008 stands for what the McKinney-Clemente ticket stands for,” Mr. Thornton added.

Talking points and background

• The Green Party asserts that voters have a right to know about all the candidates whose names they’ll see on the ballot, not just the candidates approved by the Commission on Presidential Debates or the candidates whose poll numbers declare them ‘winnable.’  Voters deserve to know which candidate best represents their own interests and ideals.

• Cynthia McKinney will be on enough state ballots to get elected to the White House.  Any presidential candidate who is on enough ballots to be elected is qualified to participate in the debates.

• When debates are limited to two candidates, the voting public hears only a narrow range of ideas, opinions, and solutions.  When presidential debates are restricted to Democrat and Republican, important and popular ideas don’t get discussed — single-payer national health care, rapid and complete withdrawal from Iraq, ending the war on drugs, saving US democracy from a repeat of the stolen elections of 2000 and 2004, impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.  Without Ms. McKinney, such ideas will be censored from the debates.

• The only valid democratic measurement of public support for candidates is the election.  Opinion polls are subjective, vulnerable to bias, constantly fluctuating, and often exclude candidates from the questions asked.  Polls are not democratic and should not be used todetermine who gets to participate in debates.

• The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), which sets rules for candidate participation, took over the debates from the nonpartisan League of Women Voters after the LWV withdrew in protest of the Democratic and Republican candidates’ attempts to control nearly every aspect of how the debates were to be conducted.  The CPD is owned and run by the Democratic and Republican parties, which have an interest in excluding all candidates except their own.  The CPD is funded through contributions from corporations, which have their own interests in limiting the candidates who participate in the debates.  In an October 3, 1988, press release the LWV called two-party control over the debates “a fraud on the American voter.” In Canada, the TV networks initially tried to exclude Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party of Canada, from the September 10 debates before the October 14 national election.  After the Greens launched a “reclaim democracy” campaign and Canadians throughout the country demanded Ms. May’s inclusion, Ms. May was invited to participate.  Americans who value democracy and fair elections should demand multi-party debates too.

Study Shows Barr Only Presidential Candidate Who Saves Taxpayers Money

Study Shows Barr Only Presidential Candidate Who Saves Taxpayers Money

NTU Study Shows McCain, Obama Would Add Billions in Spending

Atlanta, GA – A study released today by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) listed Bob Barr as the most fiscally responsible candidate running for president, noting a Barr presidency would cut federal spending by a whopping $200.9 billion.

“This study just goes to show that both Republicans and Democrats will only add more to our already sky-rocketing debt,” says Barr in reaction to the study. “On Election Day, voters can choose John McCain’s big government, Barack Obama’s bigger government, or Bob Barr’s smaller government.”

The study found that Sen. John McCain would raise federal spending by nearly $100 billion, compared Sen. Barack Obama’s plans that would raise spending by almost $300 billion.

The figures are compiled based on campaign statements up to September 19, and do not include bailouts proposals supported by Senators McCain and Obama.

“Both the McCain and Obama campaigns have tried to keep pace with the political issues of the day — largely by responding with proposals for new programs and regulations that could reach deeper and deeper into taxpayers’ pockets,” NTUF Senior Policy Analyst Demian Brady said. “On the other side of the spectrum, Bob Barr’s Libertarian philosophy is strongly reflected in a platform that is built upon cutting programs and slashing spending.”

The study finds that the bulk of Barr’s spending cuts comes from withdrawing troops from Iraq ($92.4 billion in annual savings) and eliminating the Department of Education ($92.4 billion in annual savings).

“America’s financial future rests entirely on its ability to reduce government spending,” says Barr. “The deficit this year will run a record $407 billion or more.  Next year the red ink will be even greater.  And there are trillions upon trillions of dollars of taxpayer liabilities that will come due under Medicare and Social Security as the Baby-Boomers retire.”

“What are the plans of Senators McCain and Obama?” Barr asks.  “Spend more.”

Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr represented the 7th District of Georgia in the U. S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003.

Barr and the Libertarians Continue to Triumph in Spite of Status Quo Obstacles

Posted in Partido Libertario/LP by alvarezgalloso on septiembre 26, 2008

Earlier this week, we received word that our case in Texas — where both John McCain and Barack Obama failed to certify their place on the ballot by the deadline — was denied.

The Texas Supreme Court denied it without comment.  The order simply read, “The following petition for Writ of Mandamus is denied.”

The court did not even bother to make an argument as to why it’s acceptable for the two major parties to ignore the law.

If that’s not evidence of a double standard, I’m not sure what is.

Given our limited financial resources and limited time, we cannot appeal the decision at this time.

But here’s some great news!

Earlier this week, we won our substitution case in Massachusetts and will be on the ballot in the Bay State.

The following day, word came out of Baton Rouge that we won our case in Louisiana and will be on the ballot there as well!

We’re now on the ballot in 46 states and are awaiting word and action in Maine, Connecticut and Oklahoma.

In the meantime, we are geared up and ready to head into these final 40 days

A Message from Joe Garcia

Posted in Joe Garcia by alvarezgalloso on septiembre 26, 2008

As you may have seen, my opponent Mario-Diaz Balart is scared and resorted to spreading lies.

While serving on the Public Service Commission I helped usher-in the biggest utility rate cut in Florida history, which saved Floridians $1 Billion and forced FP&L to share excessive profits with consumers.

Diaz-Balart is scared of my record of fighting for consumers so he is trying to lie his way to re-election. You and I know better though; and so does Local 10 News, who ran a truth test on Mario’s latest ad and found that it was filled with false accusations and misinformation.

One can see why Mario is run away from his record.  If I had been in Congress for six years and only passed one bill, while giving myself five pay raises, and voting against healthcare for children, services for our returning veterans and giving oil companies billions in tax breaks, I would be doing the same.

Luckily this year we have a choice. But we need more people to help get out the truth
