The society that exists in the United States has been obsessed my entertainment from the media. It all starts with our society being a society that loves celebrities our stars in every way. We idolize Britney Spears, Madonna, Paris Hilton, and A-Rod [Alex Rodriguez], and Michael Phelps.
We love to see them succeed but we also love to see them fail and use them as objects of gossips. I can assure you that the majority of our Hollywood, Washington, and New York Stars love to do the same thing. We marvel at the antics of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears shaving off her head, A-Rod with Madonna and on steroids. Our media loves to feed this news in order to entertain the fact that we are a nosy nation that cannot resist all forms of gossip even if it was not true. The elections of 2008 were proof that the media drove every event from marginalizing the Libertarians and Greens to giving publicity to the wardrobe of Sarah Palin.
Our media even went as far as to make wild accusations of Barack Obama only to praise him and promote him afterwards. It is something that is not limited to the stars outside of the media. Even the people in the media love to be the center of media driven entertainment and our society enjoys every moment of it. Who cannot forget how the city of Cleveland Ohio during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s entertained themselves with the Doug Adair Mona Scott Affair?
During the 1990’s until the present time, the people of the United States of America and the world enjoyed the live presentation of O.J. Simpson during his trial for the murder of Nicole Simpson. The people also enjoyed the antics of how Michael Jackson settled out of court.
In the present twenty first century, we have ex governor Rod Blagojevich giving modern society everything in media drive entertainment trying to defend himself in every show in the USA from “Good Morning America” to “Larry King Live” and “Letterman”. The people enjoyed the media frenzy as well as the antics of O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson.
The Spanish Language Television has been obsessed as well with their artists. I often ask the question of what would have happened if the people of the United States of America were to concentrate on God or if it had a monarchy. It is possible that since America has drifted farther and farther from God and since there is no monarchy, we have made our sports personalities, media personalities, as well as Hollywood and certain political figures our King and Queen.
